NRA soldier killed seven civilians in Anaka village in 1986 under the leadership of a commander the community identified as Capt. Abiriga. Those killed were suspected to have been rebel collaborators or at least had relatives in the bush fighting the government. “All men were expected to carry along a specifically design identification card and who ever didn’t have it at one moment risked being killed and in this fashion many lost their lives” said one survivor of the attack.
